Monocle Flat Lens

How cool is the modern wall light! Made of milled aluminium the LED light is rotatable in order to lighten your chosen angle. I think it's super pretty.
Find it here.

Lisa Gorman's home

So this is an old post featured on The Design Files, but it's one house that I just keep going back to for inspiration... Photographed by Sean Fennessy, Lisa Gorman (as in Gorman - incredible Australian fashion brand) and Dean Angelucci's Fitzroy, Melbourne home is just awesome. The light throughout the home and the colours, furniture and artwork in combination is magical. And it's a home that is so Gorman... yes i've used Gorman as an adjective here, but the home and colours reflects the fashion brand perfectly.

Milano Solferino by Dimore Studio

I first spotted this beautiful apartment over at Bijou and Boheme and fell in love with its deep yet soft colours and collection of incredible pieces displayed throughout the home. Interior Design firm Dimore Studio 'assembles eras, past and present, creating both private and public spaces which possess the power to unleash atmospheres of timeless elegance with strong impact, simple and sophisticated signs, evocative of far-off and distant time, counterpoised by contemporary elements.'

This is so evident in the Milano Solferino Apartment which is beautifully captured by photographers Emanuele Zamponi, Davide Lovatti and Beppe Brancato.

Thomas Darnell

Texas born Thomas Darnell left his regular day job in 1992 after the loss of his wife to cancer two years prior. He moved to Paris to start doing what he had always wanted to do: paint full time and produce meaningful work. With the support of his new wife Nicole and their two kids, Darnell has 'pulled off' his dream.

Darnell explains his work as "inspired by a need to find order and meaning in this beautiful disorder we call life... The illusion of spatial dimension and light is achieved through a technique involving multiple layers of transparent oil paint and alkyd resin. Starting with blurry images I refine detail and contrast with each pass and often erase some of the image with a thin wash of paint and go back to refining the details until the right balance is achieved."

Post Pins: 12.8.2013

This past weekend had the most beautiful blue skies and warm air! Spring is definitely on its way and i can't wait. Jorge and I spent yesterday at a local park (Fagan Park) with a picnic rug and our books; soaking in the sun, the views and the warmth. So now I'm inspired by all things Spring...

Anaca Studio

Melbourne based, French born furniture designer Anne-Claire Petre is the creative director behind Anaca Studio. Petre studied industrial and furniture design in France and Scotland and worked as an associateship at the Jamfactory in Adelaide where she developed her understanding of design, materials and processes. In Melbourne she worked for well known furniture companies including Jardan (see yesterdays post) where she collaborated on some designs for Jardan's timber collection. In early 2012, Petre started her own furniture company Anaca Studio where she creates her own range of eco-friendly, locally made furniture. Here are some of my favourites from Anaca Studio...

Jardan's Wilfred

Jardan is one Australian furniture brand that is making it big! And no wonder... The amount of products they supply and the quality of each piece of furniture is beautiful. One piece that i have been eye-ing off for some time now is Wilfred
Wilfred is the most comfortable looking armchair/sofa with its loose upholstered cushions that seem to fold around the American Oak timber frame. Who wouldn't want to curl up on Wilfred!
