Rogan Square Chair

Recently found on Pinterest,  the Rogan Square Chair has actually been around forever... like so far back as 2006... but this is the first I have seen of it. NYC based fashion designer Rogan Gregory created the chair along with some lighting designs. The combination of materials: vegetable tanned leather and raw steel, creates this mid-century style of chair in a very modern and sleek form. I don't think it's available now, however to stumble upon an original would be quite the score.

Jardan's Wilfred

Jardan is one Australian furniture brand that is making it big! And no wonder... The amount of products they supply and the quality of each piece of furniture is beautiful. One piece that i have been eye-ing off for some time now is Wilfred
Wilfred is the most comfortable looking armchair/sofa with its loose upholstered cushions that seem to fold around the American Oak timber frame. Who wouldn't want to curl up on Wilfred!

Stuck Chair

Dutch designers Oato created the Stuck chair by dissecting an archetypical chair and rearranging the elements to make it look as if they were simply stuck together. The Stuck chair is made from oak wood and has a powder-coated steel backrest. The seat is lodged in place by the diagonally crossing chair legs that pass through it. These legs are secured by screws where they intersect each other and where they meet the backrest. Chief designer Stefan Tervoort explains that "we are interested in a more poetic side in design, so a more conceptual, shape driven approach..."

Oato received an Honourable mention for the Stuck chair at the Thonet initiated ARC12 Chair Design Competition in Utrecht in August 2012.

Pillow Chair

The Pillow Chair by designer Anna Thomas of Alberta's Loyal Loot is simple, sleek and super cool. Its calm form is created by combining cushioned angles with symmetrical style. The chair is made from cold-formed mahogany rubber plywood wrapped in leather, perched on white powder coasted aluminium legs. With the chair being named after a pillow you'd expect it to be padded and soft, however, it doesn't look very comfortable at all. It definitely wouldn't replace a sofa to cuddle up on, but as a chair, the modern aesthetic is tempting and engaging.
