Alpha Cruxis

Alpha Cruxis is a Berlin-based design project by Australian designer Rebecca Martin. Working with leather, Alpha Cruxis creates sculptural, minimal design objects celebrating material, technique and form.

Using traditional leatherworking techniques, each Alpha Cruxis piece is cut, sewn and finished by hand in our Berlin studio from the highest quality Italian vegetable tanned leather.

The debut 2013 bag collection from Alpha Cruxis ‘GEOMETRY’ takes shape in five striking, minimal designs using 3mm thick black leather and silver hardware.

Rogan Square Chair

Recently found on Pinterest,  the Rogan Square Chair has actually been around forever... like so far back as 2006... but this is the first I have seen of it. NYC based fashion designer Rogan Gregory created the chair along with some lighting designs. The combination of materials: vegetable tanned leather and raw steel, creates this mid-century style of chair in a very modern and sleek form. I don't think it's available now, however to stumble upon an original would be quite the score.

Craft Victoria

Craft Victoria has the cutest selection of locally made products. Some of my favourites are necklaces by Emily Green or the mobiles by Made by Mosey (which i have written about here).
Recently I was having a browse through the accessories and discovered three different types of coin purses that are just gorgeous! The Mingus Purses are screen printed, Mittoo uses digital prints and original weavings to create their retro, patchwork style of purse, and Scotatto hand screen print onto leather to create their bold designs.

I just recently discovered the handmade accessories label Jujumade over at I'm Revolting. The maker, Julie, has composed a collection of leather and ceramic goods including handbags and jewellery.
You have no idea how badly i want that long satchel bag!

Check out all of Julie's work at her blog here.
