The winner of the 2013 Australian Interior Design Awards for both Residential Decoration and International Design is Nexus Designs: TriBeCa Loft in New York City.
Jurors comments describe that the interior demonstrates a "highly sophisticated use of colour, with a brave and masterful control of the opposite palettes of purple and yellow." They love that the spaces are not only fun and relaxed but executed with sophistication and restraint. They applaud the choice of furniture items as perfectly scaled to suit the proportions of the spaces they are placed. Overall the judges see this interior as one that features "decoration that is more than just surface and texture - it achieves sculptural, three-dimensional spaces through thoughtful furniture placement."
Former wrapping paper factory, the fourth floor loft's colour palette was inspired and based on the NSW Blue Mountains and was designed to create an oasis and a sense of "Australia" for the client's hectic professional lives.
