Kvadrat installation by Raw Edges

London based designers Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw Edges Studio created this installation known as 'The Picnic' for the Danish textiles manufacturer Kvadrat. The Picnic served as Kvadrat's stall for the 2013 Stockholm Furniture Fair and aimed to create a space with a surreal yet relaxing and warm welcoming. The installation is made up of a massive Douglas Fir wooden construction and 1,500 straps of 20 different Kvadrat textiles.

Petra Bindel 'Grey'

Photographer Petra Bindel shot these for Swedish ELLE Interiors.

"Sometimes grey is just that perfect compromise between drama and softness."

Rogan Square Chair

Recently found on Pinterest,  the Rogan Square Chair has actually been around forever... like so far back as 2006... but this is the first I have seen of it. NYC based fashion designer Rogan Gregory created the chair along with some lighting designs. The combination of materials: vegetable tanned leather and raw steel, creates this mid-century style of chair in a very modern and sleek form. I don't think it's available now, however to stumble upon an original would be quite the score.

Nina Ricci Resort 2014

Nina Ricci's Resort 2014 just makes me long for Spring to come. It's so close and we are getting a bit of that summery blue skies and sun but the cold air is such a put-off. Anyway, this collection says it all...

(ps - that third image of the beautiful yellow dress just makes me scream 'posture!!' Classic models...)

Catherine Kwong

San Francisco based interior designer Catherine Kwong designed this home for the San Francisco Decorators Showcase, inspired by Mick and Bianca Jagger: the Paris years... The abstract white streaked flooring is the perfect contrast and modern counterpart to the gold ornate ceiling decoration. I love the furniture, colours and bold incorporation of statement flooring.

The Big Bubble - Light

Dutch designer Alex de Witte graduated from the Artemis Academy Amsterdam in 2003 where he studied the universal values in the perception of beauty amongst people and animals.
The Big Bubble is one of de Witte's most recent designs. It is a huge light made of blown glass, each light unique, ranging between 85 and 115cm long. It won first prize for best product at Design District Amsterdam 2013.
The size, shape and appearance of the glass reminds me of huge bubble blowers. They are whimsical and inspiring...

Darren Brown

New York based decorator Darren Brown creates spaces that are high mid-century class and glam. He combines a mix of high end products with Palm Springs thrift, creating homes that scream to be seen in great old movies...
Here is my favourite; Frank Sinatra's old home in LA which was restored for use in photoshoots and movies. What a dream!

I'm inspired by pattern at the moment and these geometric finds from Pinterest are right up my alley.
